Course Description: Advanced Placement (AP) Biology 


AP Biology is an introductory college-level* biology course. Students cultivate their understanding of biology through inquiry-based investigations as they explore the following topics: biochemistry, evolution, cellular energy and communication, genetic information transfer, ecology, and population dynamics.


Students will be expected to navigate a high cognitive load of information at a very fast and rigorous pace. Expectations begin with the understanding that students will complete work at a very, very high level of proficiency if they wish to earn success. The course is rich in vocabulary, exploration and inquiry, statistical analyses and scientific reasoning. 


*The AP Biology course is equivalent to two semesters of college biology courses for biology majors.
