YIG Success - The Riverside High School Youth in Government contingent competed in Columbia recently and it was a resounding success as students learned about simulated the processes of state government, and criminal trials. Junior Greta Kriston was elected statewide as Speaker of the House of Representatives. Junior Mikel Eguiraun won an award for being an outstanding statesman. RHS had a record number of bills signed by the Youth Governor: Karrington Sanders, Nandini Prabhu Anand, Lilly Clark, Anna Griggs, Kaitlyn Haroski, Melaina Dickinson, Layla Kirksey, Amizhdhini Narmadha, Soliyana Abebe, Audrey Lartey, Alfiya Patanwala, Tristen Falls, William Sinclair, Samuel Sinclair, Jaehun Kwak, Kensa Varghese, Noor Ismail, Mallory Myers, Anna Starnes and Celeste Creech. Many other bills passed through committee and chambers. RHS presided over legislative sessions and led debates. Attorneys and witnesses simulated court procedures, cross examining witnesses, making opening and closing statements, prosecuting and defending. Robotics Team - The Riverside High School Vex Robotics Team competed at Pickens on Saturday for the Sparks Robotics Competition. Congratulations to Team (Unsolvable) as it made it to the semifinal round and tied for 5th Place out of 45 teams.
Fall Band Concert - The Riverside High School Concert and Steel Drum Bands performed its Fall Band Concert Tuesday night. The students played beautifully while Directors Kris Bence and Wesley Hipps continue to “defy gravity”.
Congratulations to the Riverside High School Speech & Debate Team for winning the 2025 Corona Rostrensis Speech and Debate Tournament held at Charlotte Latin High School in Charlotte on Saturday. The event featured students representing 25 schools and two states. In addition to winning the overall sweepstakes award, Riverside had individual event champions: Akshara Yuvaraj in Declamation, Fox Vickery in Humorous Interpretation, and Juliana Lopez Africano in Program Oral Interpretation
