Hello Scholars! I'm Katie Cannada. I was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. I am married to my wonderful husband, Keith Cannada who is a Blue Ridge native. We had two furbabies, Renfrow, who is a yellow lab, and Zack, a black cat. Our first son, Griffin, was born October 2016 and gets promoted to 4th grade this year! We were blessed with another son, Miller, in April 2018 and he will be promoted to 3rd grade at Tigerville!  I am completely outnumbered! I am the oldest of 9 children in a blended family. I'm also an awesome "Auntie" to four nephews and six nieces.

My educational background began in GCSD where I attended Brook Glenn and Paris Elementary, Sevier Middle, and Wade Hampton High School. I then attended Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. I have a BS in Elementary Education. After graduation, I worked as a long-term substitute in Walterboro, South Carolina teaching 4th grade Math and Science. I returned to Greenville and began working at Cherrydale Elementary in 2006 in the 3rd grade. I taught 3rd grade for four years with one as the All Girls Single-Gender teacher. I taught 2nd grade during the 2009-2010 school year. I spent 3 wonderful years working with Mrs. Mary Griffin in our 4K class. In 2013, I completed my Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction at Furman University. During the 2014-15 school year, I worked with the entire school as the Technology Coach Coordinator in my last position at Cherrydale Elementary. The 2015-16 school year, was my first year as a part of the Tigerville Elementary School family. I have loved being a part of Tigerville! This will be my twelfth year teaching at Tigerville, and I love all my students past, present and future! I'm excited to be teaching Challenge and STEAM Lab again this year!

My personal hobbies are reading, singing, dancing, cheerleading and watching sports.  My favorite teams are Clemson Tigers, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Braves, and team USA in the Olympics. My family and I are also big supporters of the local Greenville sports teams. We enjoy cheering on the Drive, Triumph, and Swamp Rabbits. You may even catch me singing the National Anthem before some games!

I believe learning is a lifelong process and I am always excited about learning new things! I think it is important to try to use new initiatives in the classroom to improve your instruction and meet the needs of the students as best as I can.

Words cannot express just how excited I am to be a part of such a fantastic school and community.  I am looking forward to another fabulous year!
