I am a National Board Certified Science Teacher and a graduate of East Carolina University where I earned my MAEd in education. I started my teaching career at an inner city school where I taught 6th grade science for four years in NC. My wife and I then moved north where I taught 7th and 8th grade rural students in Lebanon, New Hampshire for an additional four years. Since moving to Greer, SC I have taught 8th grade science and STEMology, a STEAM rich course for the past five years. In 2016, I joined the GMA 6th grade team and have been making great memories ever since. In 2019, I was invited to the White House to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science and Teaching. I LOVE teaching science and believe that we must encourage our students to question and explore our world and beyond. I am an avid fan of problem and project based learning (PBL). I believe in incorporating STEAM and PBL techniques into the modern classroom because I feel this approach gives our students a competitive edge in the real world.
