After reading a book, ask questions like:
“What happened first?”
“Why did the character feel ___?”
“What do you think will happen next?”
Take turns describing an object without naming it.
“It’s round, you bounce it, and you can throw it.”
Choose a category (e.g., animals, food) and name as many items as possible.
Challenge: Sort items into groups or tell how they’re alike/different.
Give 2–3 step directions: “Touch your nose, then clap your hands.”
You can also use silly ones to make it fun: “Hop like a bunny and roar like a lion!”
Start a story together. Each person adds one sentence.
Example: “Once upon a time, a dog found a treasure map…”
Encourage full sentences and rich details.
