Articulation Therapy focuses on helping students correct the way they say sounds. At home, repetition of the sound can help make it stick! The following are activities that you can use at home to help your child's articulation.
Have your child practice their target sound in front of a mirror so they can watch their mouth movements.
Example: Practice “S” words like sun, soup, sit.
Play “I Spy” but focus on spotting things with the target sound.
Example: “I spy something that starts with /r/.”
Search around the house for items that have your child’s target sound.
Say each word 3-5 times when they find it!
Read a short story together and have your child retell it using as many of their sound words as possible.
Do a simple craft or coloring activity and have your child practice a word with each step.
Example: Say “cat” 5 times before gluing, or “fish” while coloring.
