Stone Academy's Mission:

The mission of Stone Academy of Communication Arsts is to prepare all students for lifelong learning by actively engaging students in a comprehensive, sequential, academic program interwoven with the arts and enriched with creative problem-solving experiences appropriate for all learning styles.

How Stone Aims to Meet the Mission:

* Developing 21st-century learners through creative problem solving

*  Providing a creative and caring community of learners

*  Maintaining a highly skilled faculty trained in an arts-based curriculum

*  Enhancing learning through student productions and after-school enrichment

Stone Academy focuses on the arts in a way that no other school in Greenville does. In addition to P.E., music, and art we offer drama and dance! Strings is offered to students beginning in third grade who wish to participate.

More importantly, we integrate the arts into instruction in each homeroom classroom. Stone has partnerships with the Peace Center for Performing Arts,  Metropolitan Arts Council for Professional Development, Arts Now, the I.D.E.A. (Intensive Development of Education through the Arts), and the Kennedy Center in Washington as well as many local artists who visit our classrooms regularly. These partnerships allow our teachers to learn how to incorporate the arts into instruction and tap into many resources.

The curriculum at Stone is filled with active learning and problem-solving experiences. Students enjoy learning because they are actively engaged. More importantly, they are using different areas of the brain while learning in different modalities, and thus retain and apply knowledge more effectively.
