1. Create a Student Backpack Account
You will need a Backpack account to complete and submit your application.
2. Apply for the Magnet Program
📅 Application Window: November 10th–November 25th (K-2nd, we recommend completion by Nov 19th, 20, 21 to access the assessment window- see below)
3. Provide a Letter (K5 Families & Out-of-District Families)
All rising K5 or out-of-district students (any student new to Greenville County Schools) must upload a letter from their current school or daycare. Have this letter ready to upload when you apply; you can not go back and add documentation later.Â
The letter should be on school letterhead and include brief statements about the student’s attendance and discipline record (1–2 sentences are sufficient).
This letter will be uploaded as part of your online application.
4. Complete an In-Person Assessment (Rising K5–2nd Grade Students)
The sign-up option will only be available once you apply!Â

How to Apply On-Line:Â
**Create a Parent Backpack account if you have not already. Before beginning the application process, you must first create a Parent Backback Account. Â
Log into your Parent Backpack account. Â
Click on the child you wish to apply to the Magnet Program
If your child is new to Greenville County Schools or you do not see your child's name at the top, add him or her by clicking the outlined face and + button and clicking on Add a Non-District Student. Â
If your child has been in a Greenville County school, you should see his or her name across the topÂ
Select "Programs" from the column on the left. Then select "Apply to a Program." Â
Available programs will show on the screen. Select "Apply" beside each Magnet Academy you wish to apply.  Â
Parents will be able to apply for multiple magnet academies in the online system. Once submitted, you can not go back and apply for another Magnet School. It is advised to click on them all now because the magnet application is submitted only once. Parents should make sure to select all schools for which their student desires to apply and complete all sections of the application before selecting submit.  Â
