Fees
The fees for the children attending the After School Program are as follows:
● $40 Registration Fee per family (non-refundable)
Please make all checks out to Sterling School
*Half Week= 2 day week as determined by the school calendar. (ex. Thanksgiving week is considered Half Week) Parents may opt for their children to stay only 2 days per week; this would be considered Half Week rates. Inclement weather may cause a Half Week. In this case, the following week parents would be charged the reduced rate.
*Week = 3 or more days *Half Week = 2 days
Attendance and Absences:
After School hours are from 2:15 until 6:00 p.m.
Inclement Weather and Early Dismissal Days
The After School Program will not operate on days when the school is closed due to inclement weather. If there is a delayed entry such as a one or two- hour delay, the after school program will operate as usual. If the school is dismissed early due to inclement weather or has a scheduled early dismissal, the after school Program will not operate.
Pick Up Procedures
Pick up from after school will be done at the side door of the cafeteria. The way to this door is to go STRAIGHT when you pull in (towards the loading dock), instead of turning to go in the carpool line to the front of the school. You will stay to the right near the parking spaces for staff and then loop around near the loading dock. Then, you may park at the curb closest to the school or in the parking spaces and follow the sidewalk up to the recessed part of the school next to the dumpsters. The door to the cafeteria is on the right. Ms. Henry will be at the door dismissing students. Please bring your car tags for pick up. For everyone's safety, anyone that is picking your child up should have the car tag with them. We do have our pick up list as a backup but please try to bring your car tag. Each person should bring with them to the door the student's car tag or ID as a backup if you do not have the car tag. Parents got out of the habit of bringing the car tag to the door last year, but we really need you to bring it every time that you pick up. I will not always be at the door and this is a safety feature for your children.
Late Pick-Up
A late fee of $1.00 per minute will be charged for children picked up after 6:05 p.m. We are aware that there may be emergencies. Please contact the Director as soon as you find an emergency situation arises. Note that excessive late pick-ups (3) will result in dismissal from the program.
Fees for the coming week must be paid by closing time on Friday.
I am asking that no payments be sent to the front office or through your children. Please make all payments with after school when you pick up, unless it is sent from your bank or MySchoolBucks. You may pay the day that you pick your child up by check, cash, OR you may pay virtually. One of those ways is through MySchoolBucks which is on our school website, or you may set up Bill Pay through your bank. MySchoolBucks will need to be accessed through their website and not through the app for Extended Day to show up as an option. If you just make a payment without selecting Extended Day, it will go to the cafeteria. MySchoolBucks charges a fee every time that you use them, so I recommend using Bill Pay. The bank then cuts the school a check and sends it however often you want, once a week, month, etc. I bank with Wells Fargo. To use Bill Pay through them, I go to Bill Pay and add a payee. Then, I would plug in the school's name and address (Sterling School, 99 John Mccarroll Way Greenville, SC 29607). Then, it will ask the amount you want to send and when. Lastly, please add your child's name and after school as the memo or account number for the payment. Not all bank’s bill pay looks exactly the same but it should be similar. Let me know if you have any questions about setting this up.
Payments are to be made a week ahead. So if your child is starts attending, you will pay for the first 2 weeks in the first week. Then, you may submit weekly payments after that. You may also, pay by the month or semester (half year).
It is imperative that your account is kept current. Failure to abide by this schedule will result in your child’s dismissal from the program. If a financial burden arises, please contact the Director.
No child will be allowed to stay in the program if payments are in arrears. A late fee of $10.00 per week will be assessed for every week that the payment is late. Late fees are assessed on Monday for the week of if it is not paid for already. The only exceptions to this are the first two weeks of school and the week after holiday breaks. We give a one week grace period during these times for families to catch up on their accounts.
Failure to pay will result in the child being withdrawn from the program once the account is three weeks behind. The student will not be allowed to return to the program if they are withdrawn because of failure to pay. Students may not attend when fees are not paid. If there is a problem with checks being returned, the director will require that payments be made in cash. Parents may not be indebted to the program.
Fees are paid even if your child does not attend for any reason. All schools operate on guidelines from Greenville County Schools. The cost of our program is very much below that of private daycares; therefore, fees are paid whether or not your child attends.
If you are registered for “full time” the fee payment is for full time. The fee must be paid even if a family vacation is taken during the year and your child misses a week of after school attendance. You may only switch your child's attendance status twice in a school year. (In other words, you may switch from full time to two days a week and then switch back later in the year. However, you cannot switch more than TWICE. You may not switch back and forth to pay less for care.)
**If the economy dictates that you no longer need the services of our program, you may withdraw your child to avoid paying for weeks you do not need and re-enroll your child when your circumstances change.
Students may only register for After School for the next year if their account is kept current. Anyone who fails to pay their balance by the end of the school year may NOT register for the next year.
In the event of a returned check, you will be assessed an additional insufficient funds fee.
To keep your child’s account and space current, reimbursement must be made to the Sterling After School, in cash within forty-eight hours from the time you receive notification from the school. Only cash will be accepted for future payments.
SNACKS
Snacks are provided each day from our cafeteria. You are welcome to send your child an extra snack.
Tax Information
Tax statements will be printed out in January.
Medical Conditions
A medical form is required to be on file for each child enrolled in our program. It is the parent’s responsibility to make sure their child’s file is updated throughout the year as needed.
Children with Special Needs
We will not discriminate against any child with special needs or care instructions. However, in order to maintain a safe environment, students with special needs or care requirements are expected to follow daily procedures and rules of the After School Program. We will do our best to accommodate each child who attends our program.
Discipline Procedures
All children are expected to follow the normal school rules of the Sterling School. In addition to the school rules, other rules and regulations of the After School Program are also to be followed. “Time Out” is used as a normal discipline procedure as well as loss of privileges in daily activities.
Discipline Referrals
Chronic and Severe discipline problems such as fighting, hitting, using profanity, etc. will warrant a disciplinary referral. After two referrals, the child will be dismissed from the After School Program.
Please keep your address, phone numbers, and those names on your pick up list current. Please notify the After School office in the event any change occurs.
Daily Schedule:
Each grade will rotate through a schedule that will include the following each day:
Snack
Recess
Homework
Computer Game time/ Interest Session/ Art Project/CATCH Activity (These activities will alternate during the week)
Board Games/ Free Play
Homework
A homework period will be offered daily except for Fridays. Assistance from our staff will be provided. Parents should monitor their child’s progress and make sure homework is complete. Some children may finish all of their homework, while others will need extra help at home. It is not the responsibility of the After School Program to make sure each child has completed his/her homework. The responsibility still lies with the parents. Please keep in communication with your child’s teacher.
