About Mrs. Smith

I am so excited to begin another school year here at Gateway Elementary and begin at Armstrong Elementary!  I already know many of you and I am looking forward to meeting those of you that I don't know yet.  Challenge is going to be full of rewards and ways to push yourself.

I have over 13 years teaching experience in grades 3, 5, 6, and 7 across North Carolina, Georgia and beautiful South Carolina.  I also teach reading here at Gateway while I am not in the Challenge classroom.  I hold my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a Middle School Extension from the State University of New York College at Fredonia where I graduated with magna cum laude honors.  My Gifted and Talented Endorsement is from Furman University.  I am also considered to be HQ (highly qualified) in elementary education and middle school science.

I live in and am an active part of the Travelers Rest community.  Both of my daughters are also participants in the Challenge program.  I have first hand knowledge of the Challenge program as both a parent and a teacher.  When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my family, travel, run and workout, read, snorkel, garden, golf, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors, especially the beach!

I believe "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall!"

I am looking forward to an amazing and successful year!  I am available to help and can be reached at the following:

Thank you for sharing your children with me!
