At SMES we LOVE Mo Willems! I am certain you will enjoy the Daily Doodle videos he is offering, during our eLearning days. He will show you how to sketch many of his favorite characters. Use your favorite doodle tool to sketch along with him. This is the first Daily Doodle. A new one will be posted each day!

Starfall offers many different resources for both teachers and parents to use with children! They are fun and children truly find them entertaining. In the Parent-Teacher Center, you will see online activities and a wide variety of customized printable activities for children. A variety of ebooks revolving around math and ELA skills can also be found here!

The website TumbleMath is now available for students at Slater Marietta Elementary School! This is an amazing collection of math picture books for children in elementary school. To access this resource, go to the Slater Marietta Website, scroll to the bottom, click on the link that says Discus, and click on the link that says Discus Kids. You may be prompted for a username/password. If so, send me an email and I will share this information with you! My email address is mgregg@greenville.k12.sc.us

Please take a moment to check out this new resource provided by Discus called Tutor.com! It is a wonderful resource offering tutoring assistance in over 60 subjects for students in grades 4-12. Bilingual support is also provided. To use this resource through Discus, you must access it from the SMES website. At the bottom of the home page, you will see a link called Discus. Click on it and then click on Discus Kids. At the top of this page, is a link for Tutor.com. Teach your Monster to Read is a fun, digital game for young children. Users get an opportunity to create a monster and take him through a magical world, as they learn the basics of letter and word recognition to the complexities of reading full sentences. The graphics on this are beautiful and fun. They are certain to capture the attention of children, as their reading skills develop!

I love this YouTube video by Jarrett Lerner! He is a wonderful graphic novel artist and gives a very clear set of instructions for how to draw. In addition to this, he address the mistakes we all make when we draw, and he talks about how to fix them.
