Classroom management
Essential Agreements:
S- Students show Respect
T- Teaching will not be disturbed
A- All directions are followed
R- Responsible students complete work
S- Stars will be prepared
Individual Consequences:
1. Verbal reminder
2. Name on the board
3. Removal from table group, possibly sent to teacher next door for "bounce back reflection" time.
4. Note or phone call home
5. Review handbook for details regarding more serious behavior and referral policy.
Whole Class Plan:
Related arts teachers will report the class behavior to the classroom teacher when they are picked up. If the class has shown overall STARS behavior then one star will be recorded for that class in the gradebook. Once a class has received 10 stars they will receive a free game day in Art.
Individual Reward System:
Students may be given the opportunity to be the “art star” and earn prizes for exemplary behavior.
Philosophy
My goal is that students will develop a confidence in their own abilities in making art and an appreciation for the creative process. As students develop artistically, my hope is that they will form a lifelong appreciation of artwork beyond their primary years into adulthood. Through the study of art we will form an understanding not only of the principles and elements of art, but also of the many cultures and regions of the world.
