I am Emily Huminski, Instructional Coach at Southside High School. My mission is to support teachers and increase student achievement. This is my third year at Southside, and I am excited to be back! I am available to help and support teachers in many ways.
I will help you with:
Teacher Mentoring Program – Is your assigned mentor helping you? Do you have a copy of the PAS-T binder for teacher evaluation? Do you understand what should be included in the binder?
Curriculum – Do you have a copy of the state standards? Do you have a curriculum guide, if available for your content area? Are you using the district curriculum maps? Are you looking for some interesting resources for a particular unit?
Instructional Strategies – Are you looking for some new ideas to use in your classroom? Do you know how to differentiate instruction for a class of students with a wide variety of abilities and readiness levels?
Instructional Technology – Do you know how to use a Promethean Board? Do you know about the other technology resources available at Southside? Do you know how to use them?
Assessment/Data Collection – Do you know how to access your students’ test scores? Do you have a plan to analyze your students’ formative and summative assessment results? Do you know how to write an improvement plan for struggling students?
Professional Development – Do you know how to sign up for workshops on the GCS Portal? Do you have suggestions for professional development? Is there an instructional strategy that you would like to learn more about?
I will not:
Evaluate - I am not an administrator. I am here to support you and your students. I will visit classrooms to observe informally as often as I can, in order to provide feedback regarding the learning taking place in your classroom. I will meet with you to discuss questions and/or concerns that you have regarding instructional planning, classroom strategies, data analysis, and professional development. I am here for YOU.
