Classroom Rules/Expectations
Having consistent behavior and work expectations is essential to our core program. Classroom rules and expectations have been created so that every student has an equal opportunity to learn. Students need to arrive in class on time and work hard for the entire period. Respect for each other, me as their teacher and others belongings is very important. I pledge to work very hard this year with your child and will do everything possible to help them be successful. The student's job is to give their best effort....every day!
In our class we:
Be kind to one another
Respect all property
Listen to the teacher and follow all directions
Keep personal space
Parent/Teacher Communication
.Communication is an important part of your child's education. I am available to you any time I am not directly teaching the students by phone, text or email. Please carefully read the weekly newsletter as there will be important information regarding homework and expectations and to sign the behavior sheet that comes home in the folder nightly. This will allow your child to have a fresh start every morning.
Homework Policy/Make-up Work Policy
Homework is only assigned if there is a missing assignment from the day or if your child was absent, Please complete whatever homework in the folder by the next day.
2nd-5th Grade Grading Scale
A=100-90 B=89-80 C=79-70 D=69-60 F=59-50
For Carnegie Unit courses please refer to the state Uniform Grading Policy (UGP) for quality points and state regulations guiding credit-bearing courses.
Elementary Grading Floor
A floor of 50 will be applied to quarter report cards for elementary students (2-5). The floor will not be applied to Interim Progress Reports.
eLearning Days
On eLearning Days students will access the Google Classroom for assignments and times to Meet. We will start the day at 8:00 with a group Meet when the students will be given the times for group meetings for reading and math, Assignments are to be completed during the eLearning period of time.
Beginning in 2020, GCS can declare eLearning days when weather or road conditions threaten safety. This allows instruction to continue remotely, even though students and teachers are not physically present in our schools. Students will have 5 days to complete eLearning work before being marked absent for the day.
