Saylor Fox enters his second season as Head Boys Basketball Coach at Southside High School after leading the Tigers to one of the program's most successful seasons in recent history during his debut campaign. In 2025-26, Southside finished 12-15 while earning a SCHSL 4A State Playoff berth, achieving a Top 20 4A Ranking during the '25-'26 Season, and improving by seven wins over the previous season. The Tigers also doubled their assists and steals from the year before while improving in nearly every major offensive category, including +22 points per game, +6 rebounds per game, +5 assists per game, +5% field goal percentage, +5% three-point percentage, and +8% free throw percentage.
Coach Fox brings 16 seasons of varsity coaching experience and 17 years of high school coaching to Southside. Throughout his career, he has served as both a head coach and assistant coach at Dutch Fork, Mauldin, Del Norte (CA), Wren, and Southside High Schools. His teams have consistently competed for championships, earning region titles, deep playoff runs, and multiple Upper State and Final Four appearances while developing numerous All-Region, All-State, collegiate, and Division I student-athletes.
As a head coach across all levels, Fox owns a 137-104 career record (.568) over 10 seasons. Including his time as both a head and assistant varsity coach, his teams have compiled a 222-189 record (.540) over 16 varsity seasons.
Coach Fox believes coaching is an extension of teaching and is committed to building a program founded on character, discipline, accountability, and player development. His vision is to create a championship culture that prepares student-athletes for success both on the court and in the classroom while representing Southside High School with pride and integrity.
