policies, procedures, and expectations

 I look forward to a great year in Physical Education. To help your child succeed please read and understand the rules for a safe and fun PE class. If you have any questions, please contact me! 

ENTERING AND LEAVING GYM AREA

-          No horseplay. 

-          All students will enter the gym from the hallway and place belongs on a hook or bookshelf near the door.

-          Students are to then sit on a designated floor spot and wait for directions from the teacher.

-          No cell phones are to be out and used for any reason.

-          No food allowed while in class, or gym area!!!

***Students should not wear jewelry and bring other valuables to class***

 

MATERIALS NEEDED

-          Tennis shoes are MANDATORY in order to participate. It is a safety concern so please come prepared for PE.

-          We may go learn outside as long as weather permits so dress comfortably on your assigned day.

-          PLEASE BRING A REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE WITH YOUR NAME ON IT

-          NO Sperry’s or Sperry type shoes, boots, or dress shoes with slick bottoms. 

-          NO sandals, crocs, flip flops, and backless shoes are not to me worn. 

-          Students may not wear shorts with writing across the seat.

-          Appropriate shorts for physical education must be LONGER than fingertip length with arms held straight down by sides.

-          Jewelry should not be worn in physical education class for safety reasons.

-          NO aerosol or spray cologne, perfume, hair spray, body spray or deodorant. Students may use roll-on or solid deodorant (highly recommended).

PARTICIPATION

-          All students are required and expected to participate in physical education.

-          If you choose not to participate, you must have a written excuse from a caretaker on the same day that you do not participate in physical education.

-          If you are unable to participate for an extended time period, you must have a doctor's excuse.

-          On days that you choose or are not able to participate, you will be required to complete an alternative writing assignment.

***If there is any documented medical condition that the PE/Health teachers need to be aware of that will affect a student’s performance in Physical Education, please inform your students coach via email or in a written document. The teacher will monitor and adjust classroom procedures and schedules as needed.  For specific course objectives and standards, please visit the South Carolina Department of Education at www.ed.sc.gov ***

 

EQUIPMENT

The physical education department is proud of the amount and types of different equipment that has been purchased. Students are expected to take proper care of all equipment. STUDENTS ARE ASKED NOT TO TOUCH OR HANDLE EQUIPMENT LYING OUT UNLESS NOTIFIED BY THE TEACHER.
