Environmental Studies

Environmental Studies is a non-laboratory, science credit course designed to present an array of topics through the lens of how it affects the ecosystem of the Earth including man's impact on the planet and the long-term effects of man's actions: foundations of science skills, overview of chemistry, characteristics of living organisms, energy, mutations and evolutions, and ecology. This course is designed to incorporate different pedagogical strategies that may include but not limited to: direct instruction, flipped classrooms, pre-recorded and live lessons, and hands-on activities and lab experiences. The South Carolina Commission on Higher Education does not accept this beginning level course taken prior to Biology or Chemistry for college admission. Environmental Studies, a precursor course to Biology, helps provide necessary life science information to the student’s success in future science courses
