Did you know that Greenville has the highest concentration of engineers per capita of any city in the USA? AJW leverages all of the great engineering-focused companies in our community to bring real-world engineers into our STEM labs and classrooms. Each month, a different company hosts an Engineering Week - known as "eWeeks."
We work with the company to create activities that relate to each company's business, correlate to state academic standards and that are age-appropriate for each grade level. Every grade level will experience a different hands-on activity, led by the professional engineers. Over the course of the week, the eWeek host volunteers will reach every AJW student!
eWeeks are a great way to learn about the different types of work that engineers do. It also shows lots of career paths that AJW students might choose in the future. Activities range from Tire Molding to Bottle Rockets to Lighting Scavenger Hunts to Bridge Building to Wind Power. eWeeks are always a major highlight that AJW students and staff look forward to having.
Annual eWeek partners include: Fluor, Michelin, GE, Current (Hubbell) Lighting, and Jacobs Engineering. If you would like to host an eWeek, contact Demond Criss at dcriss@greenville.k12.sc.us or (864) 452-0546.Â
