Course Description:
In this introductory course, you will be introduced to the discipline of photography through the exploration of techniques, skills, and styles. We will learn about photographers and artists of our time, photographers and artists of the past, and ourselves as photographers and artists. The art that we will create will be two-dimensional in digital format with some images being printed. We will learn basic techniques in photographing an array of subject matter, such as portraiture, landscapes, and artwork using a Canon EOS Rebel T5/EOS 1200D. There will be opportunities for you to expand your creativity and push your minds to the limit while learning the basics of photography.
Course Goal and Outcomes:
The goal of this course is to teach the basics of photography. We focus on how to properly use a digital camera's various functions and settings, photo editing and exporting, and how photography is used in the world. We also focus on reflection of our work and how to enhance future projects using learned skills. By the end of the course, students should feel confident in their ability to create meaningful and well made photographs.
