Hello, current 6th grade Firebirds!
My name is Mr. Purcell. If you haven’t seen me around carline this year (or handing out Jolly Ranchers), I am so excited to introduce myself to you all! I am the Orchestra teacher here at Fisher! I have a very exciting opportunity for you - taking beginning orchestra as a 7th grader! This is a very special one because normally, you can only start orchestra in 6th grade. Once you get to 7th grade, that option is no longer available!
I was a student who started music in the 7th grade, and I loved every bit of it! You do not need any experience at all - I will teach you how to be awesome at either violin, viola, cello, or bass!
To make things even more awesome - at the end of this year, you get to go to Carowinds on a school day! You’ll have a performance, an all you can eat lunch, and then get to ride rides (or hang out with your orchestra friends)!
Even more awesome? Our students that have at least a year of strings experience get the chance to either go to Disney or Universal Studios! So that means as a future 8th grade strings student, you will get to have that opportunity!
I hope that you will explore strings and be part of an awesome program! If you have any questions, you are more than welcome to come by room (you might even get a Jolly Rancher from me)! 🙂
