Learning Target: I can learn and understand the parts of the Read 180 program and the MAP Reading placement assessment.
Period 1 8:30 - 9:15 Read 180 8th Grade
THREE STATIONS:
1. Computer Software (first 20 min.): On a normal day, the MAP Reading test is complete, students will work 20 minutes each day in their Read 180 computer program on their own level. This week students will be preparing for the MAP Reading test and taking the first test of the year. This test measures Reading Comprehension and is used to place students at their instructional level.
2. Small Group Teacher Directed Lessons 20 min. Group A: M-W and Group B: T-Th, Friday is "Reader's Choice," (No Small Group when there is a substitute):
3. Independent Reading (20 minutes a day, the 2nd half of the period.) - Students have access to a classroom library of Read 180 novels, and an eBooks library on the Read 180 software program in the "Book Shelf" tab. All Read 180 students are expected to complete 1-2 novels per quarter, or 4-8 novels per year, and pass a quiz on the novels they read.

**Rewards on Fridays (not the first week):
100+ minutes work in the Read 180 Software Program = Soda or Drink (mini sodas this short week for over 80 minutes)
Completed Comprehension Segment = 2 candies
Completed Code Topics: 5 = 1 piece of candy
