Show respect to your peers and to the teacher. Do your best not to interrupt each other, and always listen and respond to each other with respect.
Log into our Google Meet (located on the left-hand side of our Canvas Classroom site by the time class starts, every day.
Keep your camera on, stay near your computer, listen, ask questions, and answer questions when asked. Make sure to keep your computer muted unless actively answering questions.
Turn work in on time and fully complete.
Keep personal devices off so they are not a distraction to you or your peers.
Watch recordings of the class if you miss a class period or need a chance to review.
Keep your Google Drive organized so you are able to find your work as needed. We will return to work frequently.
Take ownership of your work. You are responsible for keeping yourself on track, not the teacher. You are also responsible for picking books and writing topics that are of interest to you, so that you can stay engaged in the class.
Respect class time by reading during reading time, writing and revising during writing time, and using discussion time for class-related discussions. Do not allow yourself to become distracted, and do not distract others. If you do what you are supposed to do in class, you should have very little work to do outside of class.
Google Classroom Etiquette:
It is essential that you stay engaged in the work we do both in-class and on Google Classroom. Google Classroom is where you will turn in all work, and also where much of the feedback I give you will show up. Make sure to turn on notifications for Google Classroom and to check your email daily so that you see the notifications. It is your responsibility not only to turn in work on Google Classroom, but to read and respond to comments and emails. Failure to do so will make it difficult for you to understand and engage with the class. Additionally, do not submit work on Google Classroom unless it is completed and meets the minimum requirements of the assignment; you will not receive credit for blank documents, for submissions with no attachments, or for incomplete work.
Extra Help/Enrichment
Please email me or stay after class if you would like to attend an Enrich period. I am always happy to help students who need or want additional learning opportunities. If you ever have any questions, concerns, or ideas about our class, discuss them with me!
