Course Description:
English II Honors is a survey of world literature. This course is designed to meet the needs of those highly motivated, gifted students preparing for post-secondary education at a four year college. The course readings will challenge even the most strategic reader due to the complexities of multicultural literature. Writing instruction will include multiple opportunities to master three writing genres (argument, informational, and narrative). In addition to multiple mini research opportunities, a major research project will culminate in an extensive formal product. Grammar, mechanics, usage, and spelling will be taught through mini-lessons integrated with writing instruction. Vocabulary will be taught in context of literary selections. Students are expected to move at an accelerated pace.
