Beginner Band Important Dates
August 14- Instrument Fitting Day (during class)
This will be your opportunity to test your natural abilities on each instrument you can choose from to play in 6th Grade Beginner Band! Students will practice making sounds on the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and baritone. This will help you find out what you like the best and what you will have the most success with in band this year!
August 25- Instrument Rental Meeting (drop-in; 4:30-6:30pm)
This is an opportunity available to you if you want to rent (rent-to-own) your instrument from Musical Innovations Music Store. It is highly encouraged that you rent a good quality instrument from a local music store. Musical Innovations will be HERE AT NORTHWEST MIDDLE SCHOOL on Monday, August 25 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. This will be a DROP-IN meeting in which you will learn about the instrument rental program at Musical Innovations and have the opportunity to complete all rental paperwork. Please take advantage of this opportunity if you are able!
August 27- First day playing instruments in class!!!!
Students need instruments & all instrument accessories by this date! Please check the “Beginner Band Materials” list (attached). December 11- Beginner Band First Concert!
Please go ahead and mark your calendars for the Beginner Band First Concert on Thursday, December 11 at 6:30 PM in the Northwest Cafeteria!
