READ 180 Reading Intervention Program
Read 180 is an intensive research-based reading intervention program designed to meet the needs of students whose reading achievement is below the proficient level. Individual needs are met through instructional software, high-interest literature, and direct instruction in reading and writing skills. Students will participate in Whole-Group Instruction/Small-Group Instruction as well as rotate through two other stations: Instructional Software, and Independent Reading.
Classroom Activities: In addition to the Read 180 program, students will:
JOURNAL: A structured writing activity where students can reflect on their learning, explore ideas, and practice different writing styles.
CLASSROOM NOVEL: A structured, teacher-led approach to reading and analyzing a novel together. Our novel this year is Charlotte's Web by E.B. White.
ENGLISH WORKSHOP: Students will work in small groups to complete activities that include identifying parts of speech, spelling, writing conventions, speaking, etc.
