Occupational Diploma Info
Goals for Learning
English and Science classes in our department allow students to enter the world of good health, and demonstrate their ability to function independently as adults who are able to look after their own selves in our community. Students learn about safety, how to access community health resources, how to deal with emergencies and how to manage their own bodies independently, not just in this course. They will continue working to enhance the skills that make them desirable as employees: recognizing and practicing responsible behavior, practicing self-management skills and demonstrating appropriate work habits. They will apply healthy skills: search for, apply, and know how to ask for medical assisstance. They will recognize the need to request accommodations from their employer, if necessary. Most will obtain a job, and demonstrate proper hygiene skills that will make them a necessary and valuable employee at their work location.

Grading Policies
All work that a student does is important. Tests will be weighed more heavily than daily or practice work. Students are expected to complete assignments by the specified due date in order to obtain full credit. Students always have the option of correcting work and submitting it to be re-graded to earn additional points. I do not require that students correct work, as they are capable of making that decision independently. They may also submit late work for reduced credit up until 3 days prior to grades being submitted. They will be informed of that date each quarter, and no late or corrected work will be accepted after that date. Due to these very liberal policies regarding late work and corrections, no student should fail these classes.
I follow the district grading scale, which is listed in the student handbook.
