Social Studies Skills & World Connections
Course Description
This course helps students understand basic social studies concepts while building real-world skills. Students will explore geography, history, civics, economics, and culture at a 6th-grade level using hands-on activities, visuals, simplified texts, and repeated practice. Emphasis is placed on life skills, community awareness, and understanding the world around them.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Identify basic geographic features and use simple maps
Understand key historical events and timelines
Recognize rules, laws, and responsibilities in school and community
Demonstrate basic economic concepts such as jobs, money, and trade
Show respect for different cultures and traditions
Practice reading, writing, and communication skills through social studies content
