Class overview
In this course, students will explore the world around them, examining not only physical geography, but also human geography. They will acquire content knowledge through reading primary and secondary resources, group discussions, and whole class instruction. They will learn "through" geography as well as learning about geography! My classroom embraces student led learning where students are inspired and empowered to take charge of their learning experience.

MDA (Missing Due to Absence)- Student is missing a grade for an assignment due to an absence, resulting in a score of zero (0). Upon return to school, the student has five (5) school days to turn in this assignment.
NHI (Not Handed In)- Student did not hand in their assignment, resulting in a score of zero (0)
Student Led Classroom
In a student-led classroom, the teacher acts as a guide, allowing students to play an active role in shaping their learning experiences. Here's how this approach works and why it is so valuable:
Fostering 21st-Century Skills: 21st-century skills are crucial for future success. A student-led approach creates a learning environment that nurtures and hones these essential skills.
Empowering Student Ownership: Students will be encouraged to explore their interests, giving them a sense of agency in the learning process. This can lead to increased motivation, engagement, and a deeper connection to their studies.
Individualized Learning: Every student has unique strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. With a student-led approach, the teacher can better understand each student's needs and tailor the learning experience accordingly.
Building Confidence: When students are given the freedom to make decisions about their learning, they develop a stronger sense of self-confidence. As they set goals, solve problems, and achieve milestones, they gain a greater belief in their abilities and become more resilient learners.
Lifelong Learning: A student-led approach nurtures a love for learning itself. By encouraging curiosity and self-directed exploration, your student will be better equipped to become a lifelong learner, continuously seeking knowledge and growth throughout their life.
