Hello!
My name is Ms. Meloon, and I am going to be your child's social studies teacher this year. I am a firm believer in keeping a strong open line of communication between home and school. After all, we have something so special in common, your child! You are your child's first teacher, and you know them better than anyone else in the world. Please, know that you can always come to me with any concern and that I will do my absolute best to keep you up to date with your child's progress.
Want to know a little about me? When I am not grading papers and planning lessons, you can find me gardening, reading a book, or out exploring with my family. Although social studies is my favorite subject, I love to read and am passionate about inspiring a love for reading in my students. In addition, my family and I enjoy going to the mountains, visiting historical sites in South Carolina, and traveling outside the U.S.. I have two sisters, one of whom is in 10th grade right now.
Although I am new to Hughes Academy, I am not new to Greenville. I am from Greer and attended Greenville County Schools. After graduating high school, I moved to Charleston to go to The College of Charleston. There, I studied Secondary Education and History. While I loved Charleston, it never truly felt like home. I have recently moved back and am so excited to serve the community I grew up in!
