Hello! My name is Amanda Harris and I am very excited to be your child's teacher this year. I am ready to begin year 20 in the classroom and can't wait to welcome all students to the hive. We are going to have a great year!
A little about me:
I've taught 3rd, 2nd, and 1st grade along with one year as a reading interventionist for 3rd-5th. Before coming to Greenville, I worked in Anderson 5 and Oconee Districts. I've worked in the Greenville County School District for the past 12 years.
I grew up in nearby Seneca and attended Furman University for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, along with a Masters of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Early Childhood. I also have my National Board Certification and an endorsement in PBL and Literacy.
When not teaching, I enjoy reading, cooking, walking my dog Maggie, attempting to grow flowers, and spending time with my friends and family.
I love to try new things, experience new foods, and meet new people.
My favorite color is green and I love coffee, fall weather, and learning!
I love being in the mountains and seeing beautiful scenes of nature. This is from this summer at Lake Junaluska, a special place my family visits often. We are waiting on fireworks!
We always walk around the lake and I can't resist taking pictures of all the beautiful flowers and wildlife there. Last spring, we spotted two bald eagles that live high in the trees!
My parents and brother live nearby and we celebrate birthdays often. This is from my dad's birthday this summer and my twin niece and nephew are already taller than me!
Also, we used to spend a week at Cherry Grove to celebrate the 4th of July - this is when I was about 7 years old. So many fond memories spent with aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents at the beach!
Maggie is an 8 year old English retriever and she lives a life of luxury lounging around on the couch all day while I am at school.
Ms. Harris’s Mission Statement:
My mission is to create a consistent, calm, and caring environment where all students succeed through high quality, differentiated instruction; structured routines; and developmentally appropriate practices that reaches the whole child.
