Visual Arts Teacher
Hi! My name is Katie Fernandez and I am originally from Auburndale, Florida. I have lived in Greenville for the past three years and this will be my fourth year teaching Art at Hollis Academy! This is my tenth year teaching art and my eleventh year working in education. I started as a K4 aide in Florida before becoming an art teacher.
When I'm not at school I like to read, write stories, paint and draw, visit museums, spend time with family and travel to my favorite place, St. Augustine, Florida! I recently started playing Pickleball and I have spent a lot of time at my neighborhood pool this past summer swimming and soaking up the sun!
I have a son named Grayson who is in 8th grade at Beck Academy and is my Pickleball partner!
My mom, dad, sister, brother and their familes all live in the Greenville area. My brother teaches at Berea High School and my sister works in registration at Furman University in the Ollie program.
Teaching art is the best job ever and I can't wait for all the fun we're going to have this new school year!
I am not just an art teacher but an artist too! I often participate in local art shows and exhibitions and sometimes I even sell some of my artwork! Students will see some of my own paintings in the Art room hanging on the walls. I hope my own art inspires my students to be proud of all their creations!
