Weekly Newsletter

I’m super excited to have you in my class this year. My number one rule? BE POLITE! Everything else we will learn together in class.

Spelling words will be sent home each week in the class newsletter. Spelling homework will be due on Thursdays and tests will be on Fridays. Our first spelling test will be on Friday, August 22, 2025.

I want families to spend time together at night and students to have a break at home. Usually, the only homework I assign is for spelling each week and reading each night. Students should read at least 10-15 minutes every day. 

Ms. Austin will let parents know when Chromebooks will be distributed. Thanks!

Sometimes the school will provide snacks. You may also bring a snack from home. Students may drink water only in the classroom. Store bought treats can be shared with class for birthdays (no homemade). Please let me know if you plan to bring anything.

Most school supplies will be provided by Thomas E Kerns Elementary. Students will need to bring their own backpack and headphones, preferably with a microphone.

Please put your child’s name on anything you would be sad for them to lose. Make sure to check your child’s red folder and return to school every day.

If your child is absent, please send in a doctor or parent note when your child returns or send an email to Ms. Austin.
