Parent-Student Reading and Math Goals

Each morning our students come in and read independently.  The goal is to build their stamina in reading which supports them across all academic areas. It builds their ability to stay focused, complete a task as well as build vocabulary and the ability to engage with a variety of texts. 

1. Once they have completed a book they complete "Book Blurbs" which are summaries about the book they have read.

2. Their 'Book Blurbs" are displayed  outside our classroom. 

3. They receive "book bucks" to use in our classroom store.

4. We also use IXL, I Ready, Reading Horizons, Newsela and EPIC for remediation in areas our students struggle with. 

5. IXL, I Ready and Splash Learing provide remediation and practice with  both reading and math skills. 

6. We ask they our students read nightly for 30minutes and record their time in their Reading Logs.
