About Me

Hello, hello!

Thanks for visiting my site. I am super excited to begin another year of teaching at Riverside Middle School. 2025-2026 marks my eighteenth year in the classroom and my fifth at RMS, and I look forward to a great year of learning together.

A little about me...I have lived in four states: Oklahoma, where I was born; Kansas, where I grew up; Arizona, where I attended graduate school and met my husband who is a Professor at Furman; and South Carolina, where we have lived since 2005 and raised our two children. I have a B.A. in Political Science and two Master's degress, one in Political Science from Arizona State University, and one in Education - Literacy from Furman. I am passionate about working with adolescents and helping them reach their potential. 

My two children, Aylin and Selim, are both in high school (a senior and a sophomore). I love to read, travel, bicycle, be active, and spend time with my family and friends. My husband and I love coffee; currently, the Village Grind is our favorite coffee spot. I also enjoy watching sports. I'm a big Kansas City Chiefs fan, and I'm looking forward to another Super Bowl run this season!
