About Me

My name is Catherine Rice, and I am excited to be part of Greenville County Schools. This is my fourth year with the district. Prior to joining Greenville County Schools, I spent four years with Anderson School District Five. I am proud to be an alumna of Anderson University.

Before entering the field of education, I worked for the State of South Carolina for 11 years. I also have more than 30 years of experience owning and operating my own business, which has given me a strong appreciation for leadership, communication, problem-solving, and the importance of preparing young people for their future.

I have always had a love for young people and feel fortunate to have the opportunity to combine that passion with my love of technology. I enjoy using technology in the classroom to enhance learning, encourage creativity, and help students develop skills they can use both in school and in their future careers.

As an educator, I believe every student deserves a supportive, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment where they feel valued, encouraged, and empowered to succeed. My goal is to build positive relationships with my students while helping them discover their strengths, develop confidence, and become lifelong learners.

Outside the Classroom

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 38 years, and we are blessed with three beautiful daughters and one son-in-law. Our family also includes three very special granddogs—Milo, Luna, and Lady!

I am also a proud Gigi to my great-niece, who holds a very special place in my heart. Hearing her call me "Gigi" always puts a big smile on my face.

Our family loves to travel together, and Disney and the beach are two of our favorite places to visit. I cherish the time we spend together creating memories and enjoying new adventures.

I strive each day to make a positive difference in the lives of the young people I have the privilege of teaching and to help prepare them for success in an ever-changing world.
