Show respect to others. This includes not being a disruption to those who are trying to learn.
Treat all classroom supplies and lab equipment with respect. Do not be wasteful with materials.
Follow the instructions on the board by the time the bell rings to start class.
Refrain from personal business such as eating, putting on makeup, etc.
Please use the restroom between classes and during lunch. Excessive restroom trips during class will result in lunch detention. Exceptions are made for students with a medical pass.
No hats, hoods, and earbuds in class. Failure to remove hats, hoods, or earbuds at the beginning of class will result in class consequences.
Cell phones are a major distraction to learning. They must be turned off or put on airplane mode and put away in bookbags. Per GHS policy, just the first offense of having a phone out during class results in an office referral. Phones may be checked for messages in between classes. If a parent has an urgent message for a student, they can contact the office at 864-355-5500.
Class Consequences: (depending on the severity of the violation per the GHS discipline code, steps may be skipped)
1st: Warning
2nd: Lunch Detention
3rd: Parent Contact
4th: Written Office Referral
*A major disruption or refusal to obey will result in immediate removal from class.
Cheating:
Cheating on an assignment or assessment results in a zero and a parent contact.
Advice:
It is OK to help a friend or give advice on an assignment, but NEVER let another student “borrow” your work. This includes sharing your Google docs, slides, etc. with them. In many cases, the other student wants to copy your work and BOTH of you will receive a zero.
Unless otherwise specified, lab report conclusions should be your own work. Lab partners may complete the prelab and data collection portion of the lab together, but the conclusion section is individual.
Do not share specifics about what is on a test or quiz with students who have not taken it yet. This gives them an unfair advantage.
Assignments with answers that came from Googling the questions and copying and pasting the answers from websites will not be accepted. Answers should be written in a student’s own words and show personal understanding of the concept. If you do not understand a question, ask your teacher for help.
