Art 2 Honors Course Description: Art 2 Honors is a honors level course where students will continue an exploration of the history of art, will use concepts and techniques learned in Art 1 and will continue to produce more mastered artworks. Students will begin to express a personal aesthetic and will use the art criticism model to write about their work.
Objectives:
Students will continue to develop their own individual expression by choosing their advanced materials and processes
Continue to develop skills for personal expression through research of art history
Develop a deeper understanding of how to discuss and understand a work of art
Research career exploration in the Arts
Materials:
Pencil
Sketchbook-may use one from Art 1 (for process journal, inspirations, sketches, notes, etc)
12 in ruler (provided by teacher)
SC Visual Arts Standards:
Make Up Policy
At a minimum, students may receive up to 75% on minor assignments turned in 1 day late. At a minimum, students may receive up to 50% on minor assignments turned in 2 days late. This policy does not apply to students who are absent for instruction. When considering absences, teachers will assign a reasonable amount of time for students to make up assignments that does not exceed 5 days.
Assessments:
Major Art Projects, Research based: 60%
Minor Classwork: 40%
Grading policy: 60% major assessments and 40% minor assessments with no more than 10% can count towards Homework. Grading scale – A= 90 - 100 B= 80 - 89 C=70 - 79 D= 60 - 69 F= 59-0
Attendance Policy: Absences in High School are accrued per course. Any absence in excess of 5 may cause the student to lose credit for a 90-day / semester course. Absences that are medical (doctor notes), bereavement, and/or Principal Approved are not included in the maximum absences.
Tardiness: Students will have five minutes between classes to help them manage the hallways, go to lockers, visit restrooms and move from one end of campus to the other. Uninterrupted time on task is vital to the educational process and is one of the major goals at Greer High School. Students coming into class late disrupt that process. Greer High School expects students to be in class on time.

Fourth Tardy – Referral, Administrator Assigned Detention
Fifth Tardy – Referral, Administrator Assigned Detention
Sixth Tardy – Referral, Administrator Assigned ISS

Eighth and Subsequent Tardies – Referral, Administrator Assigned OSS
Greer High students must be present a minimum of 45 minutes to be counted present.
Communication: Updated weekly lesson plans, assignment updates and announcements will be updated on my webpage. Parents may contact me via email or my office phone.
Academic Policies and Procedures: All assignments should be submitted on time. Students will be informed of a deadline in a timely manner. Missing assignments MUST be made up and submitted within 5 days of the absence. Plagiarism and dishonesty will not be tolerated.
Classroom Policies:
Be on time to class. (4 tardies=referral to administration)
Respect other students and teacher.
Respect classroom materials and always clean up your space. (students are not allowed to use materials that are not supplied for their current assignment)
Observe all school rules.
CELL PHONE POLICY: GCS School Board Policy JCDA is in effect starting this semester. This means that students cannot have cell phones, ear buds, or other electronic devices out in any classroom at any time.
