What will we be learning in Math 7?
The emphasis in this standards-based course is on algebraic thinking and on extending the understanding of the real number system to include integers, rational numbers, and irrational numbers. The SC CCR Mathematics Standards focus on four critical areas: (1) analyzing data sets and calculating and interpreting theoretical and experimental probability; (2) working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume and solving equations related to angles formed when lines intersect; (3) extending their understanding of operations with all rational numbers to promote real world application; and (4) developing an understanding and application of proportional relationships, distinguishing between proportional and non-proportional relationships, and solving percentage problems.
What will we be learning in Math 7 (A)?
This standards-based course places strong emphasis on applications of the mathematical concepts and skills. SC CCR Mathematics Standards from grades 7 and 8 focus on several critical areas: (1) analyzing data sets and calculating and interpreting theoretical and experimental probability; (2) working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume, solving equations related to angles formed when lines intersect, and transforming figures on the coordinate plane; (3) extending their understanding of operations with all rational numbers to promote real world application, converting between forms of rational numbers, and classifying and ordering subsets of real numbers in the number system; and (4) developing an understanding and application of proportional relationships, distinguishing between proportional and non-proportional relationships, and solving percentage problems.
