Guiding Comprehension and Understanding

At school, students are given opportunities to read both fiction and non-fiction books.  They should know generally that fiction books tell stories and non-fiction books provide facts and information.  When assessed on their understanding of books, students should be able to retell the main events of a story or some of the key information from a book.  The questions on the attached sheet below can help with guiding your conversations with your student and with helping them to understand the content in their book selection.
