All About Me

Welcome to my classroom website!

Mrs. McLain

Hello there parents and welcome to my website! I am really looking forward to working with your children this year and know that it is going to be a great year! This will be my 2nd year teaching at Blythe Academy, however this is my 11th year of teaching students with disabilities! Here is a little bit of my professional history:

I grew up in Irmo, SC with wonderful parents and I am in the middle of two brothers. After high school, I continued my education at Clemson University to receive my undergraduate degree in Multi-Categorical Special Education K-12 and my masters in Early Childhood Special Education. I am highly qualified in the field of Elementary Education. From 2009 until 2011 I taught students with Autism (K-3rd) at Oak Pointe Elementary School in Lexington/Richland 5. When I moved to the upstate I taught in Spartanburg 5 at Wellford Academy. From 2011-2013 I served preschool students (K3-K5) with Developmental Delays. In 2013-2014, I was a Resource teacher serving students with Learning Disabilities (K5-4th). For the past four years I've worked in Greenville County as a self-contained special education teacher at Westcliffe Elementary School.

I was recently married (June 10th, 2017) and have a very loving and supportive husband! At the end of August, we celebrated the arrival of our very first child, a boy! We are both enjoying this the new journey of being parents! On the weekends I enjoy spending time with my husband, friends, family and cat “Lilly”, cooking new recipes, and making crafts for our home. During football season I make sure to cheer loudly for the Clemson Tigers but have to remain a little reserved since we are a house divided!
