The resources classes currently consist on average between 2 to 8 students per class. By having smaller class sizes allows the students to work more effectively with fewer distractions. The majority of the teaching is through direct instruction curriculums using hands-on activities, manipulatives, and games to practice key concepts. The are paper and pencil activities will be used as a means of assessing retention of skills learned through progress monitoring.
Here at Taylors, we offer inclusion services for all grade levels. This year, I will be teaching the 3rd grade math inclusion class. Inclusion allows for the student to remain in the general education classroom and to continue to receive direct instruction as well as accommodations to help them be successful with grade level content.
This year I will be providing behavior support services to individual in either the general education setting or in a small group pull-out setting. The students will have instruction on growth mindset and learn behavioral strategies to apply in their everyday lives while others may have check-ins and check-outs to set their goals for the day and did they meet the goal they set.
