My name is Tamara Hefner and I am super excited to be joining the staff at Taylors Elementary! I am looking forward to this being an awesome year with many memories, student growth and achievement all while making an impact with positivity on our young scholars. Having taught in another Leader in Me School, Taylors Elementary is top notch and I am honored to now get to be part of this school and the legacy that Taylors Elementary is creating by fostering, creating leadership development of our scholars, all while making a place of learning with a vibrant atmosphere, positive learning, along with feeling like a family.

I have been in the realm of education for the last 29 years, this year I will start my 20th year in the classroom. From the time I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to be a special education teacher. I am a transplant to South Carolina as I spent the majority of my life living between New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts (BA) in Special Education from Georgian Court University in New Jersey, my Master’s of Science in Special Education (MS) from Saint Joseph’s University in Pennsylvania, and recently my Education Specialist Degree in School Leadership (ED.S.) from Furman University here in South Carolina. I take pride in being a teacher and sharing my love for learning with all scholars. When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my husband Chris, daughter Meadow, and my big kitty Ripley. I am an avid cruiser and love traveling and sightseeing whether it is a day trip or a few days vacation. I also enjoy gardening, cooking, baking, arts and crafts, along with do-it-yourself projects.

I look forward to meeting and working with everyone this year as part of Team Taylors!
