Parent-teacher communication is an essential part of a successful school year. In addition to the below, you are welcome to contact me at any time via edohse@greenville.k12.sc.us.
Blue Folder: Your child will bring home a blue "communicator" folder to and from school every day that contains completed assignments for you to keep at home, as well as homework and school and PTA correspondence. Please use this folder to transmit parent/doctor notes, payments, permission slips, and other items as needed.
On Fridays, I post to our class website a newsletter for the week ahead. The newsletter includes information about what we will learn, dates to remember, and other important information related to the upcoming week.
Please complete a Student Absence Form when your child misses school. Or you can email me and/or send a note in your child's blue folder upon return to school.
If you wish for your child’s transportation to change for a particular afternoon, your child must give to me a written note from you. If I do not receive a written note, I will send your child home by his/her usual method of transportation. I am unable to read email most of the day, so I am unlikely to see email requests for same-day transportation changes. Your written note note must include the student's name, teacher's name, date, and parent signature. In EXTREME EMERGENCIES ONLY when an afternoon transportation change is unforeseen, please notify the office of transportation changes.
Please send a note if you plan to pick up your child early. Go to the school's office to sign-out your child, and the office staff will call for your child to meet you there. There are no early dismissals after 1:45 p.m.
The PTA will provide treats for monthly birthday celebrations. Please do not send or bring birthday treats.
Breakfast is free for all students. Lunch costs $2.50 per student. Extra milks cost 65 cents each. You can deposit lunch money into your child's account through My School Bucks, or I can send your child to our Bobcat Cafe where direct payments are collected. Links to My School Bucks and Free and Reduced Price Meal applications are available via gcsfans.com.
I encourage 20 minutes of daily reading for pleasure that hopefully does not feel like homework! Donuts receive on Monday a list of spelling words to be tested on Friday. There will be times when your child will have study guides for upcoming tests. I will assign other homework as necessary, especially in math, to strengthen your child's skills related to what we are learning in-class.
Students are welcome to bring a healthy snack to eat each day. Each student may also keep a bottle or thermos of water on his/her desk.
Students will have outdoor recess every day, weather-permitting. Please keep this in mind when helping your child select clothing and shoes for the day. Dress shoes and sandals are not recommended for safe play on our slides and climbing equipment. Please note that flip-flops are not allowed.
