I am from Marietta, Ohio, right on the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum River. This will be my third year at TRHS and my 36th year of teaching. I moved from Ohio 4 years ago after my husband was transferred. I taught 33 years in Ohio and I held several teacher licensures. Through the years I enjoyed teaching ELA, Accelerated Science, Biology, and implemented a Career Education Program at Marietta High School. I also bring to the classroom experience in teaching numerous College Credit Plus Courses, including Personal Health and Wellness, Nutrition, Leadership, and College Foundations for incoming Freshman at Marietta College and Washington State Community College in Ohio. I hold a Bachelor Degree in English, a Masters in Teacher Leadership, Biology, and Family and Consumer Science. I thoroughly enjoy teaching at Travelers Rest and cannot wait to see what we cook up in my courses this year!
I enjoy family time with my adult kids, friend time, the outdoors, reading, and I especially enjoy my certified therapy dog who worked at my previous high school on a daily basis with students and now enjoys visiting memory care centers at local elderly care facilities. My family are self declared foodies. My daughter and SIL, a Culinary Arts Graduate, run a pop up fine dining experience at a 200+ year old home built by a Revolutionary War soldier and is also a private chef in Ohio.
We exist to educate students both academically and socially so that they become responsible citizens of our local and global community.
