We are excited for another year at Pelham Road Elementary. This is just a glimpse at some of the expectations and classroom management information that we will be using this year. For more detailed information, please check out our websites throughout the school year.
Third Grade Classroom Expectations
I am a firm believer that students need to make decisions about their behavior and take responsibility for their choices. I strive for a positive learning environment in the classroom, where children have an opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. I expect the students to follow the rules and respect me and each other at all times.
1. Please treat me with the same respect I treat you.
2. Feel free to do anything that doesn’t cause a problem for anyone else.
3. If you cause a problem, I will ask you to solve it.
4. If you can’t solve the problem, or choose not to, I will do something.
5. What I do will depend on the special person and the special situation.
Mrs. Blanchard’s Classroom Management System:
Positive Behavior Chips- I have established a positive classroom behavior system that we will use this year called the “chip system”. Each child will have 4 chips on their desk in the morning when they enter the classroom. I will collect chips of those students I see following classroom rules and procedures. At the end of the day I will randomly pull a chip out of the basket and that child will receive a reward. The students will know the more chips they get in the basket, the better chance they have of being chosen. This system helps to reward positive behavior in the classroom.
Table points- Table groups may earn points for outstanding behavior in following directions and classroom procedures. When a group earns 15 points they will receive a reward. That group will then start over and work towards 15 more points.
-While this behavior approach involves reinforcing students’ positive behavior, there will be consequences for those who do not adhere to the positive reinforcement. Those consequences are as follows:
1st Offense: Verbal Warning
2nd Offense: Silent lunch
3rd Offense: Note / Email/ Phone call home
