Course Standards/Objectives: The following are the National standards that will be followed in the above classes:

1. Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.

2. Performing on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.

3. Improvising melodies, variations, and accompaniments.

4. Composing and arranging music within specific guidelines.

5. Reading and notating music.

6. Listening to, analyzing, and describing music.

7.Evaluating music and music performances.

8. Understanding relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.

9. Understanding music in relation to history and culture.

Grading: 40 % Active Class Participation: Assessments might include but are not limited to: homework, class work, quizzes, minor individual or group projects, evaluation of skill development, written or performed tasks, ensemble cooperation and ontask skills.

60% Standards Based Assessments: Assessments might include but are not limited to: large scale class, school or community performance, individual research oriented papers, major test.

Homework: If and when homework is assigned it is due on the following day or the date to be announced. If the work is not handed in on time a penalty of 5 ponts per day will accessed. Homework may be made up if missed.

Time Assistance Provided for Students: If extra help is needed by a student they may set up a time with the teacher before or after school to receive help.

Preferred Method of Communication: The preferred method of communication is by email. Email is check daily and will be responded to daily by the teacher.
