Only parents or those with written parental consent may view a child’s educational records
An exception is made for school officials with a legitimate educational interest
These records include the permanent record on file, personally identifiable information, and, in some cases, even individual assignments for which a grade has been given
Therefore, if you happen to accidentally see graded assignments on a teacher’s desk, you must not look at the papers or discuss what was seen
