CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLASSROOM RULES

1. Students may use the bathroom prior to reporting to the classroom to avoid having to leave during class. There will be exceptions to this rule, but if a pattern develops they will have to wait for class to end before using the restroom. All gear will be grounded prior to going to the bathroom. Only one student per bathroom will be allowed out of the class at a time. You must take the pass before you go and return it when finished. Absolutely no Styrofoam drink cups are allowed in class! Sealable plastic or stainless steel containers only!

2. Students will not use phones while class is in session! They will be placed in a book bag or pocket. If this is disobeyed, the outcome will be a referral. Speak with the instructor if an emergency arises.

3. Courtesy and respect will be extended to others at all times. Anyone violating this rule will be referred to the  Assistant Director as established in the chain of command.

4. If a student falls asleep during class, he or she will be made to stand (This includes head resting on a desk or arms).

5. A Journal will be required for daily entries. The journals will be in Google Classroom and periodically checked by the instructor for neatness and accuracy. As Law Enforcement officers the ability to articulate clearly and accurately is a must!

6. Students will be dressed properly in clothing suitable for physical activity. Bed clothing and pajamas are not acceptable! Only tennis shoes, low heel boots, and low heel shoes are the only footwear that will be allowed in the class. High heels, platforms, sandals with or without back straps, Birkenstocks, flip-flops, slippers, and clogs are a  safety violation. Dresses and short skirts are also prohibited for training. If you are wearing one of the above,  bring a change of clothes or shoes to wear in the class. If no change of clothes is brought, you will be given and you will be given a "Zero" for the day. The student must change into those clothes prior to the beginning of class.  The school dress code will be enforced at all times. Feet will be on the floor at all times and not on the desktop!

7. Each student will bring a pen and pencil, a notebook for notes and handouts, and a highlighter to class each day– no exceptions.

     8. No student is to leave Mauldin High School before dismissal time without first notifying the instructor.

9. Repeated tardiness to class by car riders will be referred to the assistant principal for discipline.

10. Students will participate in Physical Training. All students will participate in this unless medically excused with a doctor's note. All students will be in the correct clothing. Failure to do this will result in a zero for class participation for the day.

11. Fighting and horseplay are prohibited in the classroom, training room, and during PT.

12. All cellphones will be placed in student bookbags at the start of class and will not be taken out without prior permission from the instructor or until the end of class!

13. Finally, a "Soft Skills" evaluation will be made on each student during the course. The grade will be entered in Power Teacher as a Major Test Grade. This evaluation will be used for employability skills and recommendations.

I welcome all parents and guardians to contact me at any time with any concerns about their students.  Continued violations of these rules will result in parental notification by the instructor. In addition, the parent or guardian of any student who has special needs is asked to contact me as soon as possible so that we may discuss and accommodate your young person's needs.
