Chapter 7 Vocabulary Words
- The coefficient is a number that is multiplied by a variable.
- A composite number is a positive integer that has at least one positive divisor other than one or itself. It is any positive integer greater than one that is not a prime number.
- A number is divisible by another number when it can be divided by another and the result is an exact whole number.
- A factor is a number or expression that is multiplied by another number or expression to get a product.
- The product of the greatest integer and the greatest power of each variable that divide evenly into each monomial is called the greatest common factor.
- A multiple is the product of any quantity and an integer.
- When all the factors of a number or monomial are written as prime numbers it is called the prime factorization.
- A prime number is a whole number greater than 1 that has exactly two positive factors, itself and 1.
- A quadratic equation is an equation that can be written in the form ax2 + bx + c, where a, b , and c are real numbers and a≠0.
