My name is Kris Monday, and I’m proud to teach Cosmetology at Bonds Career Center! I bring more than 30 years of experience in the beauty industry as a licensed cosmetologist, licensed cosmetology instructor, and successful salon owner. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to continuing my education through advanced training and professional development. Some of my most notable educational experiences include training at the Redken Exchange in New York City, Roy Peters Advanced Color Academy, and multiple Sam Villa educational programs, along with many other industry-focused learning opportunities.

Teaching allows me to combine my passion for cosmetology with my love of helping others learn. As both an educator and industry professional, I strive to create a classroom that reflects the expectations of a modern salon while encouraging students to discover their creativity, build confidence, and prepare for successful careers. My goal is to equip students with the technical skills, professionalism, and work ethic they need to succeed in the beauty industry. Watching them grow into talented, career-ready professionals is the most rewarding part of my job.

When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy camping, practicing hot yoga, biking, sewing, and cooking. My husband and I have three grown sons, three dogs, and recently welcomed the exciting new role of being grandparents. Although we now call South Carolina home, we’re originally from Radford, Virginia, and remain proud Virginia Tech Hokie fans!
